How do we maximise a leader’s ability to do good? This is one of the questions at the heart of AGI’s new delivery series. Writing on Duncan Green’s blog, AGI’s Dan Hymowitz explains how the development community sometimes misses the point on delivery. Dan argues that although implementation is now a hot topic in development, these discussions often focus solely on the technical side of delivery. This neglects what he calls “the art of delivery”, because it leaves out the political levers that can be vital to implementing government programmes.

The second paper in the series will come out at the end of March. It will examine the role of prioritisation in bringing about change in government and contain more interesting lessons from AGI’s work with African governments.
